The China Center for Insurance and Social Security Research (the CCISSR), Peking University was officially established in September 2003, with the approval from Peking University. The research center is a non-profit academic organization specialized in Insurance and Social Security studies. Professor Qixiang Sun is the Director.

The mission of the CCISSR is to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and views, information sharing, education, and international cooperation in the field of China’s insurance and social security and to build an integrated base for official bodies, the industry, education and research forces. Utilizing her dominant position and worldwide resources in the field of insurance education and research, the CCISSR wants to strengthen collaboration among insurance academia, regulatory bodies and the business community; to promote theoretical and practical research in insurance and social security; and to propagate insurance and social security knowledge.

Based upon the primary goals, the Research Center shall accomplish the following several specific objectives:
1. To become an optimal platform that enhances the exchange of ideas and views, as well as collaboration between China and international community regarding China’s insurance and social security system;
2. To become the most important think-tank and resource center for China’s insurance and social security system;
3. To become the leader in the area of China’s insurance and social security system and provide expert consultation to the field; and
4. To become an integrated training base for researchers who possess not only a specialty but also practical knowledge about insurance and social security system.

The CCISSR will conduct activities in Academic Research, Domestic Collaborations, and International Communications, organize Beida International Forum on Insurance and Social Security and Beida Annual Conference on Insurance and Social Security periodically, hold various forums, annual conferences, summits, seminars and roundtable meetings periodically or aperiodically, publish Beida Insurance and Social Security Review and Beida Insurance and Social Security Working Papers & Research Report Series in the near future.
