School History Photo Exhibition of Centennial Anniversary Celebration

 

School History Photo Exhibition of Centennial Anniversary Celebration was held in the exhibition hall of PKU Library on 10 a.m. 21^{st May, 2012. PKU Vice President LIU Wei, Dean SUN Qixiang, faculty & students of School of Economics, and over 100 delegates from other sections attended the opening ceremony.}

 

School of Economics, Peking University is the first economics department among China`s higher education institutions, as well as the first base of spreading the Marxist economics and modern western economics in China. School of Economics was established in 1985 as the first school in PKU since the opening-up of China. Its predecessor is Department of Economics, established in 1912 by Mr. Yan Fu, after he was assigned the President of Peking University.

 

Dean SUN Qixiang made a speech on behalf of School of Economics first. `We hold this photo exhibition to further enhance our sense of pride, sense of mission and sense of responsibility by remembering the predecessors and reviewing the past... We hope that we are able to carry on the patriotism, creativity, hard-working and dedication of our predecessors to continue the glory of School of Economics `.

 

In the speech of PKU Vice President LIU Wei, he reviewed the centennial history of School of Economics, and highly evaluated the performance, academics achievement and social influence of YAN Fu, LI Dazhao, MA Yinchu, ZHOU Binglin, CHEN Daisun, ZHAO Naituan, FAN Hong, LUO Zhiru, CHEN Zhenhan, ZHAO Jing, HU Daiguang, WU Shuqing, LI Yining, XIAO Zhuoji, etc., who had made prominent contribution to PKU economics discipline and School of Economics during the 100 years. LIU Wei expressed sincere hope of the future development of PKU economics discipline. He held that modern economists should have their own theories to explain and guide modern China`s development and construction, should construct an economics theory system with Chinese characteristics to make it international, and to make China`s economics theory system be an important part of the world`s economics theory system. And this is the meaning of holding this exhibition.

 

Faculty representative, WANG Shuguang, introduced the preparation and publication of the exhibition and Centennial Photo History. PKU Vice President LIU Wei and Dean SUN Qixiang cut the ribbon of the ceremony.

 

This photo exhibition was based on many precious photos to exhibit the 100 years` development of School of Economics, and the journey of China`s economics discipline.

 

Vice Dean ZHANG Zheng hosted the opening ceremony. This photo exhibition lasted from 21^{st May to 26th of May.}
