On November 26, the Beijing Female Professor Association held the fifth general assembly in China Women`s University hall. The attendees voted the fifth session of the council members. Professor Sun Qixiang was elected as the president of the association.

The newly elected president Sun Qixiang is the only female dean in the more than 100 years’ history of School of Economics Peking University. As the new president of the Association, she first gave her thanks to the trust she got from the Municipal Education Committee, the Beijing Women`s Federation and the female professors, then she said she will fulfill the responsibilities conscientiously, and work together with all members to promote the development of the association. Professor Sun put forward goals for the future work: firstly, make the association as a think tank which serves the development of Beijing municipality; secondly, make the association as a platform to promote the communication among ideas and disciplines; thirdly, make the association as interconnectivity bridges between China and the world, as well as between the association and the similar organizations abroad; fourthly, make the association as ties to transfer positive energy and to make contributions to the education in the poor areas. In conclusion, she expressed her hope to harvest knowledge, harvest friendship, harvest happiness and harvest growth with the female professors in the association, and her wish to turn the association into a major driving force in building comprehensive well-off society, promoting comprehensively deepen reforms, realizing rule of law and the Great Chinese Dream.

The Capital Female Professors` Association was established in 1994, and was composed of female professors and associate professors in Beijing’s 68 colleges and universities. The association united intellectual women in colleges and universities, agglomerated female teachers’ wisdom and strength, and make outstanding contribution to the development of Beijing higher education and women’s cause in the 20 years since its foundation.
