The China Economics Education Forum has been successfully held

At 9 a.m., 24th May, 2012, one of the serial activities of the Centennial Celebration of School of Economics Peking University, the China Economics Education Forum preluded at Yingjie Exchange Centre. Attendees who are the Deans from School of Economics of domestic esteemed universities and research institutions, scholars, faculty and students, and medium journalists all came together to share the friendship and negotiate on the future development of China`s Economics education.

The forum lasted all day long, which was divided into two panels respectively in the morning and afternoon. The first panel was hosted by Professor Zhang Zheng, the Secretary of CPC of School of Economics. Professor Sun Qixiang, Dean of School of Economics gave the first speech of the forum. She indicated that, School of Economics Peking University has always been the key position of Marxism Economics and Western Economics dissemination in China, the essential idea bank of domestic economy development, and the significant cradle land of Chinese thought and reform ideology. At the moment of the Centennial Celebration, the Forum has great significance of symbolization and exploration.

Professor Liu Wei, Vice President of Peking University, gave his speech on problems in first-class economy discipline and school construction, including the criteria, discipline partition and first-class university construction, as well as the self-awareness of theory and confidence among economics education and research. He particularly emphasized that present education and research must respect and learn from the advanced civilization, meanwhile, possess the self-awareness of theory and confidence.

Professor Huang Guitian, the assistant of president of Peking University, Professor Yang Ruilong, Dean of School of Economics Renmin University of China, Professor Yang Jiyong, Dean of School of Economics and Management Wuhan University, Professor Qian Yingyi, Dean of School of Economics and Management Tsinghua University, gave their talks on `what social requirements are needed for talents cultivation of theoretical economics`, `to impel the innovation of China`s economics research and education modes`, `review and deliberation on China`s modern economics education`, and `economics education in China`.

In the round table dialogue session, Professor Dong Zhiyong, Vice Dean of School of Economics Peking University, Professor Deng Xiang, Vice Dean of School of Economics Sichuan University, Professor Ye Jingyi, director of department of economics, School of Economics Peking University, Professor Zhang Zheng, the Secretary of CPC of School of Economics Peking University, Professor Li Junjiang, Dean of School of Economics Jilin University, Professor Lin Shuanglin, director of department of public finance, of School of Economics Peking University, discussed and answered on-the-spot questions of `localization and internationalization of economics` and `cultivation mechanism of economics talents`.

The second panel was hosted by Professor Zhang Hui, Vice Dean of School of Economics Peking University. Professor Lai Desheng, Dean of Economics and Business Administration Beijing Normal University, professor Huang Xianhai, Vice Dean of School of Economics Zhejiang University, Professor Zhu Mengnan, Vice Dean of School of Economics Xiamen University, Professor Zhu Fangming, Executive Vice Dean of School of Economics Sichuan University, Professor Gao Xincai, Dean of School of Economics Lanzhou University, delivered their speeches on `mission of China`s economics of a century`, `innovative talents cultivation mode of postgraduate students in School of Economics of world-class universities`, `process, contradiction and prospect of China`s economics education`, `relations that must be well handled in China`s economics education`, and `exploration of regional economics`.

The second round table dialogue session was hosted by Professor Wang Yuesheng, director of department of international economics and trade, Professor Song Min, director of department of finance, of School of Economics Peking University. Professor Li Zhou, director of Rural Development Institution of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Guo Aijun, Vice Dean of School of Economics Lanzhou University, Professor Wang Zhaohua, Vice Dean of School of Economics and Management Beijing Ligong University, Associate Professor Zheng Wei, director of department of risk management and insurance, of School of Economics Peking University, mainly focused on modes of economics education and research, and reached the common consensus that in the future the development of economics should be more open and standardized.

At the closing of the forum, Vice Dean Zhang Hui reviewed the one hundred years` plan of China`s economics education, and looked into the distance of a more brilliant future of China`s economics education. Finally, Professor Zhang Zheng gave the closing address, the forum then successfully ended.
