Heizo Takenaka gave a lecture of the "Lecture Series of Japanese Scholars"

  On the morning of October 23, 2020, Heizo Takenaka, famous Japanese economist and professor of Keio University, launched the "Lecture Series of Japanese Scholars" online as the first lecturer, and cordially exchanged ideas with more than 100 audiences.

  Hao Ping, President  of Peking University, and Dong Zhiyong, Assistant to President and Dean of the School of Economics held a video conference with Heizo Takenaka, the lecturer of the "Frontier Issues in Japanese Economy and Society" and Wang Wan, researcher at the Institute of Modern History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Sun Jianjun, director of the Japanese Department of the School of Foreign Languages, also attended the meeting.

  Hao Ping first expressed his welcome and gratitude to Heizo Takenaka and Wang Wan for their participation and support to the academic activities of Peking University. He believed that these lecture series enriched students’ knowledge, from which they would definitely benefit a lot. 

  Heizo Takenaka said that Sino-Japanese relations are very important bilateral relations for Japan. He is also very honored to share his knowledge of Japan's economy and society with students from Peking University.

  Based on the "Frontier Issues of Japanese Economy and Society" course opened this semester, the School of Economics at Peking University held the "Lecture Series by Japanese Scholars", aiming to portray a more three-dimensional and intuitive picture of Japan’s economy and society for our teachers and students and to offer new research perspectives and ideas as well.

  This lecture was hosted by Wang Wan. Heizo Takenaka first expounded his views on Japan's macroeconomic policy, impact of the COVID-19, Japan's digital policy plan, and Japan's foreign policy. He then gave a detailed interpretation of the "three arrows" economic policy of the Japanese government, proposing that the Japanese government will strengthen its growth strategy and adhere to the principle of "self assistance, mutual assistance, and public assistance" to stimulate the country’s long-term economic growth capabilities.

  After the speech, Heizo Takenaka exchanged ideas with the audience, and answered dozens of questions about Japan’s leading promotion model of digital economy, strategically structural economic reform, impact of Sino-US trade frictions on Japan’s foreign trade policy and economic development, reconstruction measures of Japan’s finances in the future and so on.
