Peking University-Bank of China-EU-China Chamber of Commerce jointly established "EU Economic and Strategic Research Center"

  On the afternoon of October 14, the signing ceremony of the "EU Economic and Strategic Research Center" of Peking University-Bank of China-EU-China Chamber of Commerce was held at Peking University. Hao Ping, President of Peking University, and Liu Liange, Chairman of Bank of China, attended the ceremony.Zhou Lihong, President of the EU-China Chamber of Commerce, attended the ceremony via video. Chen Baojian, Deputy Secretary of the Peking University Council  and Vice President of Peking University, Dong Zhiyong, Assistant to President of Peking University , Dean of the School of Economics, and Director of the EU Economic and Strategic Research Center, Sun Yu, Vice President of Bank of China, and Guo Xin, Secretary-General of the EU-China Chamber of Commerce attended the event.

 

Hao Ping met with Liu Liange

 

  Hao Ping met with Liu Liange and his entourage in the central hall of Linhuxuan. The two parties exchanged views on the development of the EU Economic and Strategic Research Center and the promotion of school-enterprise cooperation.

  Hao Ping pointed out that the center will provide strong think tank support and talent support to promote the in-depth cooperation between China and EU. He hopes that relying on disciplinary advantages and scientific research capabilities of Peking University, the Bank of China will give full play to its advantages in international and integrated financial services, and transform the center into an influential platform in the EU research field. He also wishes that Peking University and the Bank of China will further strengthen cooperation in personnel training, scientific research, and social services, and jointly serve the country's strategic needs and economic and social development.

  Liu Liange responded that the establishment of the center will play an active role in promoting financial cooperation and cultural exchanges between China and EU. The Bank of China will use this signing as an opportunity to make full use of its advantages in global operations, expand further cooperation with Peking University in the fields of bank-school cooperation, integration of production and education, mutual education of talents, joint construction of think tanks, and international projects, and also promote the overall cooperation implementation to propel the development of our country's higher education and to make greater contributions to the construction of a new development pattern.

  Zhou Lihong said that the EU-China Chamber of Commerce will refine and implement the action plan around the content of the framework agreement, and promote the center to become a research institution with considerable decision-making influence and international reputation.

  Chen Baojian, Sun Yu, and Zhou Lihong signed the agreement on behalf of the three parties in the east hall of Linhuxuan and online accordingly.

  According to the agreement, the three parties will fully tap their respective advantages, integrate their resources, and create an open and international China-EU agenda think tank platform through policy research, think tank reports, conference forums, and series of lectures, focusing on China-EU trade, investment, finance, transformation to green economy, digital economy and public policy to meet the urgent needs of national development and economic diplomacy. Before the signing ceremony, the three parties also discussed the operation mechanism of the center.
