经济学论坛”是由北京大学经济学院经济学系主办的专业学术性论坛。论坛致力于打造一个经济学专业人士进行交流与对话的平台，对当前及未来的经济理论、研究方法和现实热点问题展开广泛、深入、全面、开放的探讨。论坛每月举办一次，由主题演讲、专业评论和自由讨论构成。论坛邀经济学各领域素有研究的知名学者或研究取得积极进展的中青年学者发表主题演讲，并围绕相关问题展开讨论。

摘要：We study the effect of education on health and the quality of life using Taiwans administrative healthcare data. We exploit Taiwan's compulsory education reform that generated a discontinuous increase in middle school enrolment. We find that more schooling lowers the hazard rate of major chronic conditions--for example, diabetes and hypertension--and increases the disability adjusted life years. We further explore the main pathways through which education may affect health. Our finding substantiates that education promotes health and the quality of life.
报告人简介：袁野博士是北京大学经济学院的助理教授。 他于2012年取得新加坡国立大学应用数学学士学位，2017年取得新加坡国立大学经济学博士学位，2017-2019年在新加坡国立大学经济系任讲师，2019年加入北京大学经济学院。 他的研究兴趣是健康，教育，医疗保险，和医疗市场。 他的研究领域是卫生经济学，公共经济学，和医疗大数据分析。 他的研究成果已发表于Lancet, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization 和 China Economic Review 等学术期刊上。
